A healing environment for reflection and renewal

COUNSELING RETREATS

With tori dabasinskas

Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist – MA, LMFT, LPCC, AF-EMDR, S-PSB, ESMHL

What is a Counseling Retreat?

The term counseling retreat was chosen for a reason. My desire is that clients would view our sessions as mental, physical, and spiritual retreats from their days. I want you to have a soft place to land and a place to breathe deeply. During our time together, you’ll be invited to be easy on yourself and soak in your environment as part of the thoughtful discovery counseling offers. Our space provides a doorway to privacy, beauty, and renewal while allowing for indoor, outdoor, and equine therapy options.

Each session will be tailored to what you need, and could include any of the following:

  • Settling into the warmth indoors

  • Processing together on a walk or sitting by the creek and barn

  • Adding a partner, “Mr. Shot,” to our time for those looking for the benefits of equine therapy

Be still and know that I am God.
— Psalm 46:10

How it’s different from traditional therapy

At Mirador Retreats, we recognize that environments have meaning. Creation has an impact on us all, particularly when we take the time to be mindful, breathe, and allow ourselves the space and time to receive. The environment at Mirador Retreats has been designed with intentionality.

The best remedy for those who are afraid, lonely, or unhappy is to go outside, somewhere where they can be quiet, alone with the heavens, nature, and God. I firmly believe that nature brings solace in all troubles.

My intention is to create a space where clients can slow down, take a breath, reflect, be heard, and renew their commitment to living into the gifts God has uniquely given them to live purposeful lives. I believe we are all beautifully and wonderfully made with a hope and a future. My desire is that clients will return to their families, workplaces, and communities refreshed and ready to live into all that they are learning. Learn more about how nature serves as an antidote to stress.

Who should consider a Counseling Retreat?

Individuals

I see a wide range of individual clients – single, married, working professionals, business owners, parents, students, and athletes. Many are looking for greater emotional strength, insight, and fortitude in unexpected seasons. I’m here to help you navigate the emotional, physical, and financial stressors that surface when life provides unexpected times of adjustment and change.

If sharing these skills with your team sounds fruitful, consider exploring a Team Summit.

Couples

I work with couples whose relationship with each other or their children has surfaced communication issues that are newly surprising or have been unresolved for years. Perhaps recent trauma, betrayal, or unexpected dynamics are causing unexpected distress.

Do you need more concentrated time to process the issues your marriage is facing? Consider a Couples Intensive offered as one of our personalized getaways.

How it works

When we work together, I will invite you to be intentional with the time before and after our meeting. If meeting via Telehealth, the following “bookends” can be applied in your own unique way from home or office.

I recommend you set aside 30 minutes to one hour before AND after our meeting to do the following:

  1. Drive: Use the drive both ways to disconnect from technology, think, consider, and pray about your focus and hopes for your time.

  2. Retreat: Arrive/stay 30 minutes before and/or after our meeting for solo time to process, journal, and reflect in the designated outdoor park-like environment. (Suggestions will be offered in your session as well.)

  3. Journal: Bring a journal to write, list, process, and remember your insights, growth, healing, etc.

My experience

I have been counseling for 30+ years, and am clinically trained as a marriage family therapist / professional clinical counselor, licensed in Washington and California. I attended the University of Southern California, graduating with a BA in Communications and then St. Mary’s College with a Master’s degree in Counseling. I hold certifications in Attachment Focused EMDR, Equine Therapy - ESMHL (equine specialist in mental health learning), and S-PSB (specialist problematic sexual behavior).

In addition to appreciating and tending to the Mirador Retreats property with Tom, I adore time with my family, long hikes with my Labrador Retriever, exercising our horse, fly fishing, paddle boarding and most any sport outdoors. I love dark chocolate and wine. I am often found enjoying a delicious cup of hot coffee and a meaningful conversation full of laughter, tears, reminiscing, and dreaming up future fun.

Insurance

I am an out-of-network provider on most plans. It is always helpful to call your carrier and clarify their reimbursement for an ‘out-of-network’ provider on your plan. I will give you a super-bill for you to submit to your insurance for reimbursement.

  • You are entitled to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” of what the charges could be for psychotherapy services provided to you. While it is not possible for a psychotherapist to know, in advance, how many psychotherapy sessions may be necessary or appropriate for a given person, this form provides an estimate of the cost of services provided. Your total cost of services will depend upon the number of psychotherapy sessions you attend, your individual circumstances, and the type and amount of services that are provided to you.

There may be additional items or services I may recommend as part of your care that must be scheduled or requested separately and are not reflected in this good faith estimate. This estimate is not a contract and does not obligate you to obtain any services from the provider(s) listed, nor does it include any services rendered to you that are not identified here.

You have the right to initiate a dispute resolution process if the actual amount charged to you substantially exceeds the estimated charges stated in your Good Faith Estimate (which means $400 or more beyond the estimated charges).

For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate or the dispute process, visit https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises/consumers or call 1- 800-985-3059. The initiation of the patient-provider dispute resolution process will not adversely affect the quality of the services furnished to you.
